Ive played every game in the series and I would not say all that lol
Chrono Trigger was definitely better then BOF 1 and atleast a bit better then BOF2
Final Fantasy games win by sheer quantity. Way too many great games to compare to BoF meager 4 to 5 games
I wish this wasnt true by the way. 2 3 and 4 are some of my favorite RPGs of all time

Caveat about FF: Quantity doesn't matter. Quality is what makes a game good. FF games had best quality from 4 to 9, then fell off. That's 6 out of 16 games not including Tactics, the spinoffs, the parodies, and Theatrythm. But those games had good story, and nothing else. They were the same-shish-different-day turn-based style and were extremely difficult to play compared to other games of their time. Only RPG that was harder was Phantasy Star 2.
The entire series of BoF had superior graphics over their competitors, easier gameplay, less overdone trends, and 4 even had 8-directional movement, while FF didn't have that till 7, and needed to be fully 3D to do that. Also you got to see characters literally grow up in BoF, FF never had that. And flashbacks (FF7 and FF8) don't count.

Alpha 3 is godlike and definitely beats Alpha 2 in some regards (roster, isms add variety) but A2 just has that x-factor for me. The visuals, the sound, the feel. It's the perfect storm

Yeah SF is no joke. Maybe not my favorite Capcom franchise because RE is too strong right now but its definitely my favorite fighting game franchise.
Also Alpha 2 is arguably my favorite too. I play it every chance I get.

I thought I was ready with my Donovan Hunter but got cooked lol
I only played a bit of VSav and then eventually the PS3 vesion came out and I played the shit out of that. My Felicia was alright.
Been meaning to get the Fighting Collection to see how the community is on there but been holding off. Not a lot of gaming time / space lately.

Yeah the closest thing to Contra (straight up guns, not arrows or magic) from Capcom is probably Mercs. Its a really good top down shooter like some of the levels from Contra

They are amazing games. World was fun and had loads of content. I havent tried Rise yet but it looks even better in some ways.

I've always been a humungous Capcom since I was like 5.
Its just too much competition. I'm sure many people here (such as myself) really love DMC but there are only 4 really good / great games
RE and SF have more time on the market and such have way more really great games.
For me if you were to like remove those 2 franchises, you could probably include every franchise ever created and I might still pick DMC. That franchise is just that amazing.

It's really hard to pick a favorite, but the most recent Resident Evil games are just so good it's hard to not choose it, but shout out to DMC, Mega Man (also X series) & Breath of Fire.
Also Street Fighter will always have a special place in my game collection, just can't quite say it's my favorite anymore as I was more about the arcade scene than the online scene.

Thats a really great question that I havent thought a lot about.
SF had potential but it went on hiatus for too long. As of about 2017 RE really caught up. There are just way too many great games in the franchise at this point to compare.
So the order would probably be
- RE
- SF
- DMC
- VS SERIES
- MM

Bionic Commando, the original game was so good, too bad it never got ported to the consoles (although it was ported to home computers, so same as Ninja Gaiden). The remake of the later NES/console game, Bionic Commando Rearmed was also very good, and to be honest I actually think it was better than the game it was based on. The "main" TPP game/reboot was actually ok as well, really the main issue was story and particularly the ending (which I personally think wasn't just setting for a sequel, but actually cut to finish the game on time).
That said I think the best Capcom games are the non-franchise games, including licensed ones like The Punisher, or both Dungeons and Dragons games.

I had to vote Mega Man but Street Fighter is a very close second. Was never huge into horror games so Resident Evil never really moved the needle for me, though I absolutely love Parasite Eve it's probably a top 10 game for me but that's not Capcom obviously.
My hidden gem Capcom game though is Destiny of an Emperor back on the NES.

Okami or Resident Evil 4. Just RE4 though, so I didn't choose the RE option. Other Resis are good but I'm not really a fan of survival horror.
